A Usability Evaluation of an Electronic Health Record System for Nursing Documentation Used in the Municipality Healthcare Services in Norway2014 •
Background: in 2016 an IT system was developed at MUL for the documentation of nursing practice. Preparing nursing students for the implementation of eHealth solutions under simulated conditions is crucially important for achieving digital competencies necessary for the health care systems in the future. Scientific evidence demonstrates that the use of an IT system in clinical practice shortens the time required for preparation of documentation, increases the safety of clinical decisions and provides data for analysis and for creation of predictive models for the purposes of HB HTA. Methods: The system was created by cooperation of an interprofessional team at the Medical University of Łódź. The ADPIECare system was implemented in 2016 at 3 universities in Poland, and in 2017 a study of its usability was conducted using a questionnaire made available by Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society “Defining and Testing EMR Usability MASTER V2 Final” on 78 nurses — students ...

Introduction: nursing documentation is a critical aspect of the nursing care workflow. There is a varying degree in how detailed nursing reporting is described in scientific literature and care practice, and no uniform structured documentation is given. Aims This study aimed to describe the process of designing and evaluating the content of an electronic nursing documentation system to provide consistent and unified reporting in this context. Methods A four-step sequential methodological approach was utilized. The Minimum Data Set (MDS) development process consisting of two phases, as follows: A literature review was performed to attain an exhaustive overview of relevant elements of nursing and map the available evidence underpinning the development of the MDS. Second, the data included from the literature review were analyzed using a two-round Delphi study with content validation by an expert panel. Next, the electronic nursing system (ENS) was developed according to the finalized ...

Evaluation of a system for providing information resources to nurses2000 •
The authors describe a study to plan and implement an information system for nurses. The objectives were to (1) determine the clinical information needs of nurses; (2) adapt an existing clinical information system (CLINT) to address their expressed needs; and (3) evaluate nurses’ use of and satisfaction with the enhanced system. Thirty-nine nurses on a medical teaching unit in a tertiary hospital in Canada participated in the project. A needs assessment influenced the design of the nursing interface to CLINT and the development of educational and participatory strategies to promote its use. Data were collected before, after, and throughout the implementation period. Qualitative and quantitative methods, including focus groups, online questionnaires, and automated usage data collection, were used to describe nurses’ use of and satisfaction with the system. The results suggested that peer mentorship, organizational support, and collaboration were the most effective strategies for prom...
