Urban Planning

This paper is based on the experience gained in European funded research projects. Despite the different objectives pursued by each project, the thread that connects them is the relationship between the performing arts and urban regeneration, in order to emphasise the importance of directly involving the territory and its inhabitants in urban regeneration processes. The research that has matured in the field of territorial co-design at national and European level was based on the conviction that the ultimate goal of urban renewal is not exclusively the quality and safety of life. En los últimos 20 años, la provincia de Alicante ha conocido un espectacular crecimiento demográfico y económico basado principalmente en el turismo y la construcción. Se entiende este crecimiento por el aumento de las inversiones en el proceso de globalización económica, pero también por la reforma de la legislación urbanística (LRAU 1994) que creó unas condiciones excelentes para los promotores inmobiliarios. of CIVVIH for more than six years.
During the CIVVIH annual meeting in
Tunisia in November 2019, it was decided
that this document should be reviewed to
take into account new parameters that affect
urban planning for the conservation and
management of Historic Urban Landscapes
(HUL) such as sustainable development, the
urban landscape, urban sprawl, tourism in
historic centres, mobility, digital technology,
climate change alongside major risks, and
health or natural disasters.
After carefully analyzing the Valletta
Principles, the expert members of CIVVIH
consider that their wording and content are
still relevant; the document is a testimony
of its time, and it remains important for the
conservation of historic cities.
However, in this unprecedented context of
pandemic and climate change, it should be
supplemented to address the issue of heritage
and the evolution of our societies with regard
to risk management (health and climate
or natural disasters) by carrying out both a
retrospective and prospective review of tools
and practices.

PurposePabna is suffering from waterlogging problems from ancient times. The previous Drainage Master Plan was failed due to the lack of reflection of the general people of Pabna Municipality. As a result, this study focuses on identifying the causes of waterlogging in people's eyes. This paper will help the local authority and planners eradicate the waterlogging problem and build a planned and resilient community.Design/methodology/approachBoth primary and secondary data were used for the study. Present drainage pattern, topology climatic elements were collected from the journals, websites and Municipal Ingratiated Development Plan (MIDP), Pabna-2008. The sample size was 246, and this respondent was surveyed. By the survey, the people's perception of waterlogging was collected. The climate change also increases water crisis caused by the length of dry season, especially on regions with lesser amount of water. The impact on water area consequently affects social aspects. City as center of activities becomes a vulnerable place to the impacts of climate change. The research question is regarding strategy of community adaptation to the climate change impact on drinking water, focusing on finding community readiness strategy. The study is conducted with qualitative–quantitative approach. Data analysis uses thematic analysis method, by which inductive data is analyzed based on a bunch of data collected, and processed using the principles of inductive reasoning. Resulting theory is composed from hypothetical assumptions and checked with the data. Quantitative analysis is followed by a descriptive statistical analysis, inferential and adaptation valuation. The starting point of this dissertation is the realization of two facts. On one side, the need of methodologies to develop the research around social aspects of Sustainable Development (SD). Social aspects have been usually underestimated in favour of technical and environmental ones, though being equally (or even more) decisive (Folch, 2005). The second fact is the emergence of a research field focused on the interplay among structure and dynamics, observed in many complex systems (called by some authors “Science of Networks” (Barabási, 2002)). Within this new field, works dealing with social systems have stood out because of their quantity and relevance. The Casco Viejo of Panama is an area with great potential to develop a pedestrian zone, as it is an attractive area for travelers to visit. For this development to be carried out safely, it is recommended that the site is analyzed based on superblock criteria to ensure pedestrians can move through the streets in a free and accessible way regardless of their physical condition. Hence, it is necessary to evaluate the current state of the road infrastructure, as we did in this research. The methodology consisted of field visits where information was gathered on the distribution of space so that ideal routes for pedestrian tourists could be ensured. I examined the relationships between factors included in the framework based on individuals' LASs, and represent a hypothetical geographic boundary in which an individual is expected to spend his/her time in daily life.
