La quarta esposizione del ciclo “Brera mai vista” (Milano, Pinacoteca di Brera, sala XXXIV, ottobre - dicembre 2002) ha presentato alcuni dei 61 bellissimi studi ad olio su carta del pittore milanese Francesco Londonio, entrati a far parte del patrimonio artistico dell'Accademia di Belle Arti nel 1836 grazie al lascito del nipote del pittore, Carlo Londonio.
La mostra ha offerto l’occasione di investigare alla luce di fonti e documenti inediti tanto la clientela di Londonio, anche sotto il profilo sociale e culturale, quanto la sua fortuna ottocentesca, ricucendo gli itinerari seguiti dal patrimonio di olii e incisioni lasciato in eredità dall’artista, di cui faceva parte il nucleo pervenuto alla Braidense. 
Dal catalogo emerge uno spaccato di interesse interdisciplinare sulla committenza e il collezionismo milanesi della stagione illuminista, dove Londonio si rivela il fulcro di un vivace crocevia di mercanti, letterati e collezionisti del Grand Tour.
In calce al catalogo si pubblica la prima genealogia della famiglia Londonio, ricostruita interamente sulla base di ricerche d’archivio di prima mano.

The following article is an excerpt from a chapter of our forthcoming book: The Shpoler Zeida – The Life, Legends, and Descendants of the Grandfather of Shpola. The chapter is entitled: "Mysteries of the Shpoler Zeida Family." This article focuses on the Beletsky family (including the Bell, Bruskin, Gellard, Goldberg, and Polis branches), who claims descent from the Shpoler Zeida. The mystery involves how their earliest known Beletsky ancestor, Leiba Biletsky (1782–1846), and his wife, Risya (1789–bef. 1848), are connected to the Shpoler Zeida.  We present what is known about the Beletsky family’s lineage and reconstruct their line of descent to the extent possible, in the hope that making this information more widely available will result in a key piece of evidence being discovered which will help bridge the gap in their line of descent from the Shpoler Zeida.

The contribution left by Luigi Staibano to the local history of the Amalfi coast is the main theme of this paper. In the past his works were not appreciated but today we can affirm the value of his micro-historical researches as a container of interesting antropological suggestions about these lands. He was born into a wealthy family of lawyers and he lived between Maiori and Salerno during the second half of 19th century. Staibano was much more than a 'failed historian', he was a man of his time. The century of romanticism and Italian national unification influenced his works. Furthermore, the observation of his family's coat of arm is also an important element in order to understand his behavior and point of view as a member of a certain community.

Proposta para um título genealógico da família dos Costas Homens Soares, da Lageosa e suas ramificações em Santiago de Piães 1. JUSTIFICAÇÂO Este ensaio baseia-se, em primeiro lugar em documentos inéditos existentes no Arquivo da Casa de Lamas , Sande, os quais me foram facultados pelo meu prezado primo arquitecto José Maria Alcoforado Corte Real. Também tenho vários parentescos com a Casa de Lamas, naturalmente sendo a sua a linha principal e eu descendente de linhas secundárias que derivaram para a vizinha casa e quinta de Vila Nova na mesma freguesia. Estes documentos tem um valor grande, por terem sido manuscritos por António Peixoto da Silva e Costa, da Casa de Lamas, de quem sou parente quer pelo costado Peixoto de Azevedo, aliás já publicado em livro de quem é primeiro autor o meu caríssimo amigo e parente também José António da Costa Reis, quer pela linha de Costa e Pereira, as quais merecem estudo aprofundado. Fala dos parentes até ao nível dos seus bisavós e às tantas refere o seguinte: "todos estes conheci". Ou seja, está a falar com conhecimento direto das pessoas em apreço. Esses documentos são particularmente importantes porque na sua ascendência chega a memória até Antónia Pereira casada com José da Costa, natural da casa do sargento-mor Matias Pereira da Costa, moradores no lugar de Barreiros da freguesia de São Tiago de Piães, Concelho de Sanfins, o qual "trouxe em dote a vinha de Riba e o olival e a Tapada de baixo". E refere noutro local: "Aquele meu bisavô José da Costa Aranha que veio para Lamas deixou na casa o irmão que se chamava Matias da Costa, como o pai, o qual casou duas vezes; o primeiro ou segundo matrimónio casou com uma mulher infamada de judia e donde descende a mulher de António José, de Barreiros, chamada Clara da Cunha e tem filhos que é o Dr. António José Coelho Peixoto e o irmão o Laureano. Do outro matrimónio teve filhos de uma mulher cristã velha mas destes filhos que foram Ayres Peixoto e sua irmã Maria Peixoto não houve posteridade porque morreram solteiros, "pobrinhos mas sempre à lei de não trabalhar". A outra irmã do meu bisavô foi casar ao Bairral de Tarouquela e donde descende o pai do padre Félix e do padre Tomás e Dona Marcelina, Dona Rufina e o padre Manuel Peixoto e o Padre António Peixoto e dona Rosa assim chamava a irmã foi casar a freguesia do Souto e donde descendem os filhos do Patrício Manuel e seu filho António Coelho Peixoto e os irmãos mas destes não sei em que graus ou pessoas mediarão. Historische Todesanzeigen, die aus Anlaß des Ablebens von Adeligen aus deutschen Ländern der Jahre  1912 bis 2009 gedruckt worden sind, können als wertvolle Quellen für die Ahnenforschung, die Familienforschung, aber auch die wissenschaftliche Forschung, gelten. Die hier präsentierte Liste nimmt sich dieser bisher vernachlässigten Quellengruppe an und erschließt bibliographisch den Quellenbestand.

The Metis dictionary of Biography is intended to give the reader an overview of Metis History through the biographies of a very diverse cross-section of North America's Metis people. An earlier iteration of this work was published as The People of the Metis Nation in 2011.
    Often known as founders of the fur-trade, the Metis of what was to become the Canadian and American Northwest participated as trappers, guides, interpreters, factors, dock and warehouse workers, voyageurs, coureurs de bois, canoe and York boat operators, couriers of the first postal services, and Red River cart teamsters. The Metis were essential in commercializing both the fur trade with the invention of the York boat, and the buffalo hunt with the invention of the Red River cart.
    Within this volume, well-known Metis personalities as well as the unsung heroes of Metis communities and families are documented. Day-to-day events as well as historical turning points are recounted. Achievements in the arts, sports and literature are included. We also attempt to correct the oversight of previous historical treatments which have failed to document the lives of Metis women. Family history research has become increasingly popular as online genealogical research tools have become widely available. However, family historians, particularly those from dominant social groups, usually end up interpreting their family story within dominant national narratives. As a form of “memory work” (Kuhn, 1995), family history has the potential to unearth hidden or “forgotten” memories about the past and its implication for the present. Drawing on theoretical tools of the critical theoretical traditions, critical family history interrogates the interaction between family and context, with a particular focus on power relationships among sociocultural groups. In this article, I use my own family history to illustrate the recovery of a silenced or suppressed national narrative. Specifically, through an examination of property records and wills, I show how social relationships that colonization forged, rather than being a relic of the past, live on in the present, and how family history can challenge a national mythology that minimizes the importance and ongoing impact of colonization.

"Harmon Limes, Sr. was born on July 14, 1750 and baptized on August 5, 1750 at St. John The Evangelist Smith Square, Westminster, London, England.  Andrew and Frances (Cornwell) Limes are shown as his parents.  A brother, John, was born on October 9, 1752 and baptized on November 5, 1752 at the same parish listing the same parents.  These records are taken from the Church of Latter Day Saints microfilm rolls."

Counting Y-DNA STR differences is a poor discriminator for members of the same family. Unless a very large number of markers are used, matching cannot be used with a statistically significant degree of accuracy to establish whether someone is more closely related even to second cousins. However there are other methods that may be used to distinguish degrees of relatedness. We present a simple and useful test which involves finding a “segmenting marker” which can establish relative consanguinity with some accuracy, and we give a real-life example of its use to show from which of two 17th Century brothers a man of partly unknown origins descended.

Everybody is born into a family. Each has its own history, therefore, 'our history' is not made by us, but by previous generations. The rise of International migration and the crumbling of family structures, however, only make it harder for descendants to learn about their family history. Inhibited by language and geographical barriers as well as lost connections to the bearers of knowledge, many offspring of migrant families year for answers to questions such as 'Where do I come from?' or 'How did I get here?' Answering these requires re-establishing lost connections and meeting family one previously did not know. This paper illustrates how the juxtaposition of two generations of Chinese Australian migrants' narrative (a 'pioneer migrant' and an 'overseas born Chinese' are vital to piecing together a segment of family history.

En nombre de todo el equipo docente del Máster en Genealogía, Heráldica y Archivos de la Universidad de Córdoba nos complace enormemente anunciar una nueva edición de nuestro programa de estudios, una vez más, bajo la dirección del profesor Enrique Soria Mesa, catedrático de Historia Moderna y director del Laboratorio de Estudio Judeoconversos.

Una titulación universitaria que cuenta con un total de 60 créditos ECTS, que equivalen a 1.500 horas lectivas, distribuidas en 562,5 horas de teoría y 562,5 horas de prácticas, más el correspondiente Trabajo Fin de Máster, de 375 horas (15 créditos ECTS).

Su carácter eminentemente práctico, gracias a la docencia virtual, hace que sea un programa de estudios accesible a interesados y especialistas de todo el mundo, independientemente de husos horarios y lugares de residencia. El único requisito para cursar dicha propuesta académica es estar en posesión de un título de grado, licenciatura, ingeniería o similares.

La duración del Máster es de casi dos años. Comenzará el día 8 de enero de 2020 y finalizará el 30 de septiembre de 2021. Los plazos de matriculación constarán de dos periodos:

• Un periodo de preinscripción que va entre el 1 de octubre y el 31 de noviembre de 2019.
• Y un periodo de matriculación que abarca desde el 1 de noviembre al 20 de diciembre de 2019.

El precio de dicha titulación es de 2.500 euros, los cuales pueden abonarse de manera fraccionada hasta en cuatro plazos de 625 euros. Esto significa que el valor de cada crédito ECTS es de 41,60 euros.

Family history research connects very well with multicultural curriculum because it opens up the multiple experiences of members and communities of a society, as well as helping to make visible the historic construction and ongoing legacy of unequal relationships. The author of this article began to play with what she later called “critical family history,” while simultaneously teaching a course on Multicultural Curriculum Design and researching her own family history. However, it wasn’t until years later that she was able to include critical family history within a multicultural education course. In this article, after discussing various ways in which people approach family history research, the author offers three theoretical lenses for critical family history, then two sets of tools to guide research. Then she discusses her experience teaching a multicultural curriculum course for teachers that included critical family history. She concludes by proposing critical family history as a highly useful tool for deepening the practice of multicultural education in classrooms.

The Fahrney family had settled in Crawford Seminary,  McGee County, which was a mission for Quapaw Indians, situated  nearby present day Baxter Springs. Later, McGee County became Cherokee County.  As Baxter Springs had large amounts of prairie land and abundant sources of water, the government began to sell land to white settlers as of 1856. Apparently, these land sales were contrary to  the treaties with the Cherokee tribes, which resulted in raids and skirmishes on the newcomers like the Fahrney family.

Článek rozkrývá přímou rodovou linii mlynářského rodu Josefy z Vysokého Mýta mezi roky 1541 a 1856 včetně osudů ostatních sourozenců. Příspěvek vyzdvihuje několik význačnějších osobností z této rodiny. Rodu patřil Josifovský mlýn s nejstarším dokladem o založení mlýna v Čechách.

The article uncovers the direct lineage of the miller family Josefy from Vysoké Mýto between the years 1541 and 1856 including the life fortunes of other siblings. It marks some of the significant members of this family. The Josifovský mill with the oldest proof of mill founding in Bohemia was owned by the Josefy family.

After Delmer S. Fahrney's retirement from the Navy, he joins Vimcar Corporation as Vice President. This Los Angeles engineering corporation was a manufacturer of military equipment and a supplier to the Navy. Delmer also acted as a consultant to the Coleman Engineering Company, a supplier to the U.S. Army Corp.  Delmer became also a member of the Franklin Institute of Philadelphia and of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In addition to the above activities, Delmer being now a private citizen, resumed his interest in ufology, a matter that had preoccupied him for decades.

Weitestgehend unbekannt ist heute, auch in sudetendeutschen Kreisen, dass der einst so bedeutende und weltweit bekannte Musikinstrumentenhersteller, Produzent von Klavieren, Flügeln, Harmoniums und Orchestrions einen nord böhmischen Vater hatte.
Julius Karl Hofmann (*OJ..1.0.1.873 Birkigt Nr. 25 Böhmen -t23.1.0.1.948, Wien), stammte aus Birkigt (tsch .. Brezova) bei Braunau in Böhmen. Er war ein bedeutender Klavierfabrikant in Wien (Hofmann & Czerny AG) Dessen Vater Cölestin Hofmann war Weberei besitzer und Leinwandhändler in Birkigt, Braunauer Ländchen.

2017-ben egy huszonhárom tanulmányt magában foglaló kötet látta meg a napvilágot az Osiris Kiadó gondozásában. A tematikus fejezetekbe rendezett írásokat elsődlegesen a szer-ző személye köti össze: Erdész Ádámé, a Magyar Nemzeti Levéltár Békés Megyei Levéltára igazgatójáé, a kiadvány az ő 1989 és 2015 között megjelent munkáiból áll össze. Ahogy az elrendezés is sejtetni engedi, bár a tanulmányok jórészt egy-egy külön témát járnak körül, azok között erős kohézió van. A kötet elsősorban azokhoz szól, akik a neves gyomai nyomdász dinasztia, a Kner csa-lád múltja iránt érdeklődnek. Fontos jelezni ugyanakkor, hogy számos más téma is terítékre kerül, nem szólva arról, hogy a-könyvben kétségkívül főszerepet játszó-Kner-históriát olvasva sokrétű megközelítéssel találkozik az olvasó: a helytörténettől a művelődéstörténetig számos aspektus bontakozik ki a háttérben.

In White Bread, readers accompany Jessica on a journey into her family’s past, into herself, and into the bicultural community she teaches but does not understand. Jessica, a fictional White fifth-grade teacher, is prompted to explore her family history by the unexpected discovery of a hundred-year-old letter. Simultaneously, she begins to grapple with culture and racism, principally through discussions with a Mexican American teacher. White Bread pulls readers into a tumultuous six months of Jessica’s life as she confronts many issues that turn out to be interrelated, such as why she knows so little about her family’s past, why she craves community as she feels increasingly isolated, why the Latino teachers want the curriculum to be more Latino, and whether she can become the kind of teacher who sparks student learning.
The storyline alternates between past and present, acquainting readers with German American communities in the Midwest during the late 1800s and early 1900s, portraits based on detailed historic excavation. What happened to these communities gives Jessica the key to unlock answers to questions that plague her.
White Bread can be read simply for pleasure. It can also be used in teacher education, ethnic studies, and sociology courses. Beginning teachers may see their own struggles reflected in Jessica’s classroom. People of European descent might see themselves within, rather than outside, multicultural studies. White Bread can also be used in conjunction with family history research.
