We demonstrate 25ps slow-light delay of 10Gbps RZ data simultaneously with pulsewidth reshaping from 50ps to 20ps using optical parametric amplifier. Error-free operations are achieved for both 10Gbps RZ packets and PRBS data.

We present experimental and numerical investigations of Kerr nonlinearity compensation in a 400-km standard single-mode fiber link with distributed Raman amplification with backward pumping. A dual-pump polarization-independent fiber-based optical parametric amplifier is used for mid-link spectral inversion of 5 × 28-GBd polarization-multiplexed 16-QAM signals. Signal quality factor (Q-factor) improvements of 1.1 dB and 0.8 dB were obtained in the cases of a single-channel and a five-channel wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) system, respectively. The experimental results are compared to numerical simulations with good agreement. It is also shown with simulations that a maximum transmission reach of 2400 km enabled by the optical phase conjugator is possible for the WDM signal.

We report the first demonstration of 640-Gb/s return-to-zero ON-OFF keying channel transmission over a 100-km standard single-mode fiber link employing midspan phase conjugation. A frequency-degenerate conjugate field spanning more than 20 nm is created in a low-birefringence parametric mixer for the first time. Physical separation of the conjugate field from the original field is enabled by utilizing pump polarization nondegeneracy. Rigorous link characterization using a high-quality 640-Gb/s transmitter and a high-sensitivity receiver revealed error-free (bit error ratio <;10-9) performance, eliminating the need for impractical fiber length control or electronic signal processing. The compatibility of wavelength-transparent conjugation with spectrally inefficient channel implies that channels with higher bit rates and better spectral efficiency can also be compensated.

We report the design of an all-fiber continuous wave Short-Wave Infrared source capable to output up to 700 mW of power at 1940 nm. The source is tunable over wavelength intervals comprised between 1850 nm and 2070 nm depending on its configuration. The output can be single or multimode while the optical signal to noise ratio ranges from 25 and 40 dB. The architecture is based on the integrated association of a fiber optical parametric amplifier and a Thulium doped fiber amplifier.

We demonstrate the first uncompensated transmission of a 640 Gbps RZ-OOK channel over 100 km of standard SMF. The error-free performance of the ultrafast link was achieved by a new, wavelength-transparent and polarization-invariant signal conjugation scheme for the first time.

AbstractWe present an all-optical time-division demultiplexer with 22 dB conversion efficiency, using four-wave mixing (FWM) at 1550 nm in a single-mode dispersion-shifted fiber. Error-free demultiplexing of 20 Gb/s data to 10 Gb/s is obtained, with 1.4 dB power ...

We demonstrate polarization insensitive all-optical wavelength conversion for polarization shift keying (PolSK) signal. Polarization sensitivity of our scheme is compared with the conventional one and the conversion performance of the PolSK signal is investigated.
