Electromagnetic and mechanical design aspects of a high-speed solid-rotor induction machine with no separate copper electric circuit in the megawatt range2009 •
In this study, a new design was suggested in order to improve the performance of induction motors. In these new designs, slits were applied in the middle of stator and rotor tooth parts. In these slitted models, the depth and width of slits were optimized by Finite Element Method Magnetics (FEMM) by using Finite Elements Method (FEM). Starting torque, pull-out torque, rated torque and torque-speed characteristics of the new motor model formed with the proposed slitted construction and reference motor model are given in comparison. The motor model is made with 56 slits which have different depth and width to see the effects of slits in the stator and rotor. In modeling, 3 kW squirrel-cage induction motor was used. As a result of modeling, increase in the coupling flux provided 2.085% and 4% increase especially in pull-out and rated torque values respectively.

This paper explores the high speed motors which are driven by a cycloinverter-fed with slit rotor. It’s showing the overall operation of motors with solid slitted rotor given better rotor construction. These are used in whole circuit heating induction heavy materials, highest frequency control. The power of high frequency controlling maintains and developed high speed with 3 phase capacitor of motors. The 2-pole, 3-phase, 180 kW, 150 Hz high rated motors with solid slitted rotor is designed in RMxprt, Ansys software. Its mechanical parts showing cycloinverter fed 2-pole, 3-phase, 180 kW, 150 Hz highest controlling speed of motor is compared with the cycloinverter fed a conventional three phase 50Hz induction motor. These are showing the induction motors speed, which are we can varied in a ways, first is changing by frequencies and second is changing by the no. of poles. The cycloinverter fed speed of induction motors gives better operating torque which are numerically analyzed that average operating torque is 23 % more than that obtained from cycloinverter fed conventional 50 Hz motors.

Multidisciplinary Design Process of a 6-Slot 2-Pole High-Speed Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine2015 •
Increasing demand in energy facilitated the need of clean energy such as wind energy. Residences, buildings and commercial sites needs more power, but also continuous power. Important facilities such as wireless or radio sets requires small amount of energy, but with a continuous supply. This study was done to investigate the design and development of the vertical axis micro wind turbines. The contribution of counter rotating impellers with a freely rotating generator to produce energy was investigated. For the analysis and design, Solidworks, Mathcad and Abaqus CAE programmes were used. Possible developments were considered. In conclusion, it was seen that the counter rotating impellers provide better power production, an increase of six time that of single impeller ones.
