考古学界对长江中游肖家屋脊文化(或称:后石家河文化)玉器的认识历程,是漫长且曲折的。本文详述九十馀年东西方学者们的大致研究经过,及目前学术界研究的进展。对雕琢以“人脸”为主视觉,隐含“神祇、祖先、神灵动物”三位一体观念的玉器,作了初步研究。也提出现阶段暂时无法解决的一些问题,期待日后考古发掘更多资料后,再做进一步的研究。
